On November 15-16th 2018, the International InfraBIM Conference, BIM in Civil Infrastructure, was held in Krakow. It was organized by the European Certification Center of BIM (EccBIM) with the support of the infraTEAM. The honorary patrons of the conference were: Vice-President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Education and Higher Education, Minister of Infrastructure, Minister of Investment and Development, General Director of National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA), President of the Board of PKP Polish Railway Lines, President of the Management Board of Polish National Railways.
The Conference was attended by nearly 220 people representing the administration of road and rail, academics, designers, surveyors, contractors and suppliers of IT solutions. The most participants were from Poland, but among them were also representatives of Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Great Britain, and Russia. There were also student science clubs from Gdansk, Krakow, Rzeszow, Silesia, Warsaw and Wroclaw Universities of Technology. The content of the conference was supervised by the Program Committee, which included representatives of the Visegrad Group countries (Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, and Hungary) and other countries such as Great Britain and Syria (BIMarabia). The Committee qualified to present 15 papers on BIM technology and its use for planning, designing, construction and managing transportation infrastructure facilities. In addition, on the second day, practical workshops were held, in which six additional topics were implemented with a much more detailed approach.
The conference was opened by the President of the EccBIM Foundation Dariusz Kasznia – Chairman of the Organizing Committee and prof. Marek Salamak – Chairman of the Program Committee. In the welcome speech, the following spoke: Szymon Piechowiak from the Ministry of Investment and Development, Tomasz Stańczak from the Headquarters of GDDKiA, prof. Jaroslav Navratil from the Technical University of Ostrava and prof. Kalman Koris from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. The lectures were delivered on four thematic sessions, named in sequence: Keynote Lectures, BIM for Owners, BIM in Designing and BIM in Construction.
